Annie Finch is an award-winning poet who weaves language, magic, and matriarchy through her roles as writer, cultural commentator, and performance artist. She is the author of Spells: New and Selected Poems and six other volumes of poetry, as well as verse plays, poetry translation, and opera libretto. Her prose works include A Poet’s Craft and a dozen other influential books on poetry, along with writings on feminism and spirituality including the groundbreaking Choice Words: Writers on Abortion. Annie’s poetry appears onstage at Carnegie Hall and in the Paris Review, Harvard Review, New York Times, and Penguin Book of Twentieth-Century American Poetry. She has lectured and performed widely across the United States and India, as well as in Europe and Africa. Passionately devoted to poetic pattern and rhythm as a path to connection with self, nature, and spirit, Annie embraces the poet’s ancient roles as creator, teacher, spellcaster, healer, and priestess.She is based in New York City and travels to celebrate the seasons of nature and life through reading, speaking, and ritual poetry theater

Annie Finch is a poet, speaker, teacher, and ritual performer dedicated to reweaving the skills of sacred poemcraft. She is the award-winning author of seven books of poetry including Spells, Eve, and a ritual verse play on abortion, Among the Goddesses. Her poetry has been a finalist for the National Poetry Series and the Yale Series of Younger Poets and received the Sarasvati Award from the Association for the Study of Women and Mythology. Annie holds a Ph.D from Stanford, has lectured at Harvard, Toronto, Delhi, and Oxford Universities, and authored influential works on poetic craft including A Formal Feeling Comes, The Body of Poetry, VillanellesThe Ghost of Meter, and A Poet’s Ear. Named the recipient of the 2010 Robert Fitzgerald Award for her lifetime contribution to the art and craft of poetic versification, she travels widely to inspire and empower with ritual performances, talks, and transformational workshops.
