Each October
A new session begins
with the primal dance of the Meters
Do you sense something missing from your poetic and/or spiritual path? Many of us are missing the heartbeats that are our birthright. Shamans and medicine workers, bards and griots, have always used poetic meters to heal, inspire, work magic, spread joy & pleasure, and connect with nature and the sacred,
So can you.
Our year’s adventure through the potent rhythms of nine remarkable meters is starting soon, led by revered poet and prosodist Annie Finch, known as the “queen of meter.”
Until our first class begins at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET on Wednesday October 15, you can register for Annie’s 5 core offerings as a group, attaining a level of interweaving learning that has the potential to change your life, and save over 50% on tuition.

Or, maybe, you just need to ask —
ANNIE, PLEASE REMIND ME — WHY METERS AGAIN?
Well, in the words of one student, “learning meters is like receiving the keys to the universe!”
Did you know that “Meter” and “Mother” come from the same ancient word-root?!
Like the footsteps of Goddesses marking paths home through the lonely desert of this patriarchal world, meters offer us a deliciously exact path to the Divine Feminine.
I believe this is why Meters are central to ceremony in ancient cultures around the world. And we need them too!
Meters’ primal connection with rhythmical meaning and joy, our birthright in
body, heart, and spirit, is the best way I know to re-mother ourselves on every level.
And Póěmágc Yéar offers you the inspiration, knowledge, structure, practice, and guidance to nourish and support you on your journey.
Meters, like yoga, are best learned through direct transmission. I have devoted my life to teaching as well as writing and performing them, because I believe this knowledge is a sacred torch for us to pass on–one that can heal the language itself.

Here are details on all that’s included . . ..
1. POEMCASTING CIRCLE (9 CIRCLES)
Póěmágǐc Yéar includes a full annual cycle of Poemcasting Circle (held 4pm PT/7 pm ET on the first Wednesday of each month October-June). Here’s a full description of this sacred poetic gathering:
Inspired by ancient traditions and Annie’s own personal practice, explore how the energies of the five sacred directions—South, East, North, West, and Center—can offer insight into your current life journey.
We’ll begin with journaling and sharing in a supportive environment. Then, using a poetic practice called Meter Magic, we’ll shape our intentions into a simple, powerful spell—a poetic “amulet” you can return to for strength and inspiration throughout the month. This beautiful gathering calls a new Meter into your life in a personal, practical way, setting the stage for your month’s intention.
No prior experience with poetry or magic is needed for Poemcasting. Come as you are—curious, tired, joyful, uncertain. There’s space for all in the circle.

Answers to a few frequently asked questions…
What is the Curriculum of Meters? Poemcasting Circle will spend one month apiece channeling anapests, iambs, trochees, dactyls, amphibrachs, cretics, heterometrics, dipodics, and cadences. For those who are inspired to continue with each meter for the rest of the month after Poemcasting Circle, resources, prompts, and support for writing the Meter of the Month will be available in the Spiral of Meters during the same month, along with possible additional classes in Poetess Priestess community on the same meters. Formal Feeling Workshop, while each month’s session is open to any metrical or formal poetry, will also be very welcoming of poems in the Meter of the Month, and we will discuss these together at the beginning of the workshop to maximize metrical understanding!
Am I ready? Will I need to Have Experience? While I promise that even the most seasoned, metrical poets will find much to learn, NO experience at all in meter is necessary to benefit fully from Póěmágǐc Year. Each circle and class will be fully self-contained, and because of the nature of the material and my teaching style, everyone learns equally from thoses at every level of experience. All you need is to show up with a notebook, an open mind, and an open heart!
What is the Time Commitment? The events require no preparation. If you’re in listening mode, your commitment will only be the 3 hours a month we spend together. On the other extreme, if you immerse yourself in mistressing meter, commit actively to writing and revising each Meter of the Month, watch the videos and do the reading in Spiral of Meters community, and bring your revised poems in the Meter of the Month to Formal Feeling Workshop for my feedback, then you might expect to spend 2-4 hours a week in addition to our 3 hours a month together. It’s all good!
What is the Cost? I am passionate to pass along this knowledge that I truly feel can help heal our words and our world–and I feel that the synergy of these 4 practices is the best way to do that. So, in thanks for your enthusiasm and commitment to the magic of meter, I have priced this overarching opportunity at a juicy discount!
