Dr. Annie Finch is an award-winning poet and writer, author or editor of eighteen books including Spells: New and Selected Poems, The Poetry Witch Little Book of Spells, Calendars, and Among the Goddesses. Her poetry has appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, The Penguin Book of Twentieth-Century American Poetry, and onstage at Carnegie Hall. She has published a dozen books on rhythm, meter, prosody, and poetic form including The Ghost of Meter, The Body of Poetry, Measure for Measure: An Anthology of Poetic Meters, and A Poet’s Craft: A Comprehensive Guide to Making and Sharing Your Poetry and has been awarded the Robert Fitzgerald Award for her lifetime contribution to the art and craft of Versification. Annie has performed her poetry on five continents. She earned a B.A. from Yale and Ph.D. from Stanford, taught at numerous universities, and served as Director of the Stonecoast MFA in Creative Writing. Based in New York City and Maine, she directs PoetryWitchCommunity.org and travels to offer workshops and retreats on poetry, feminist spirituality, and Matrics Rhythmic Writing.
