This one-day online retreat, for all who identify as women, marks the perennial mysteries with a Fall Equinox women’s sacred circle that invites our lost, long-dead selves to join in the feast.
Description
This one-day online retreat, for all who identify as women, will gather a sacred circle of women to center into our authentic power through rituals, meditation, poetry, ancient writing techniques, mindfulness practices, and immersion in the courageous words of women poets including Gabriela Mistral, Diane DiPrima, Joy Harjo, Emily Dickinson, and others— including ourselves.
As we grapple with this unprecedented era in our society and make the transformations it demands of us, each of us needs to find new resources within. The Greater Mysteries of Demeter and Persephone, celebrated in the early Fall, are among the oldest known Mysteries in Western culture, with roots deep in the Neolithic age. Come mark these perennial mysteries with us in a Fall Equinox women’s sacred circle.
In the heart of the mystery of the Descent of the Maiden is the courage to embrace the darkness, to eat the seeds of the pomegranate that seal our loyalty to our own Underworld. As we gravitate around the Greater Mysteries in a descent that eventually reveals the soul, we’ll witness and enact the sacred dance of Demeter and Persephone and celebrate their final reunion with a sacred feast.
With Annie Finch and Marianela Medrano.
We will meet for four hours on zoom Sunday, from 12-2 and 3-5 EST.
