Matriculture Films: Latcho Drom

Part 2 of Tony Gatlif’s 3 part film series about the Roma people, Latcho Drom, is one of the most moving films I’ve ever seen. This mesmerizing and subtle mistresspiece of documentary filmmaking has moved into my Lifelong Top 5.  It shows us so much about how humanity can be—and, as seems pretty clear from the film’s tragic development, should be: a dancing vibrant matriculture where strong women hold the center to everyone’s delight.  I will be writing more about this film in my next book of nonfiction.
