Are you a witch?
As a witch, I find sacred meaning in the cycles of life and death and the seasons. I believe that all nature, including humanity, is holy and interconnected.
I like to use spells and ceremonies, some formal and some spontaneous, to shape my own growth and support those I love. I do my best to follow the Witches' Creed: “If it harms no-one, do what you will.” And I gather regularly in circles or covens to feel the power of women together and perform rituals that help us to connect with the spirit in ourselves, each other, and nature.
I haven’t always led such a fulfilled life. For decades I was tormented by loneliness and self-hate, struggling to find a way to belong in the world. The path of the witch helped me to create my life as a strong, joyful, healthy contemporary woman. Now I’m ready to share what I have learned.
In my work as a poet, I have travelled widely. Everywhere I go, I meet wonderful people who are ready for lives of power, community, and joy and yet are not quite sure where to turn next. Maybe you are one of them.
My personal acronym for W.I.T.C.H. is “Woman in Touch, Coming Home.” Today’s witchcraft helps bring us home. no matter what our gender, to honor the Divine Feminine inside and around us. What could our wounded world need more than that? Witchcraft’s roots stretch back to the most ancient times when the sacred feminine was honored in the form of goddesses across the world. And the reason that this folk spirituality has persisted forso long and in every culture is that its techniques work.
Unlike the unreal “witches” portrayed on movies or TV, with their scary eyes and bizarre powers, the witches I know are some of the realest people I’ve ever have the pleasure to meet. By real, I mean vibrant, sexy, powerful, creative, kind, joyful, and loving. The time-honored methods of the witch’s way draw on the natural capacities of our minds, bodies, hearts, wills, and spirits: the power to envision; the power to embody; the power to love; the power to desire; and the power to bless.
My mission as a poet and witch is to celebrate the sacredness of human life and of the Divine Feminine and to support you in your own journey towards the true essence of witchcraft: your own beautiful, loving inner powers. And I look forward to perhaps connecting with you via the Annie Finch Forum, Poetry Witch Blog, and AnnieSpells Newsletter and maybe meeting in person someday. Let’s make magick together!
